The launch of the Yorkshire's Fine Hotels website marks a new era of co-operation between nine of the best hotels in the North of England. Although they are all individually owned several of the hotels have been working together for some time to exchange information on issues like the new licensing regime, the proposal to introduce a bed tax, staff training schemes and recruitment. Yorkshire has some superb hotels: they offer a very high level of service and some excellent cuisine. Hotels can only join Yorkshire's Fine Hotels by invitation, and invitations are only issued to those hotels who we are completely happy meet the service ethos that we demand, and our guests have come to expect. Yorkshire's Fine Hotels don't rest on their laurels: they are constantly looking for ways to improve guest comfort and enjoyment. These hotels have fantastic facilities and cater for a wide variety of visitors enjoying overnight stays for business or pleasure, short breaks, meetings or conferences, wedding ceremonies and receptions, and civil partnership ceremonies. Some of our hotels have health spas, almost all have golf courses either at the hotel itself or nearby. Some are right in the city centre: others are on the edge of town or in the heart of the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. You can discover more information about each of Yorkshire's Fine Hotels and any special promotions or offers that are running by simply clicking on the icons on the left, but you can also catch up on all our latest news by revisiting this page from time to time. DEVONSHIRE ARMS WINS TWO AA ACCOLADES.
The Devonshire Arms Hotel has won two remarkable accolades in the 2007 AA Hotel Guide. Its restaurant gained four red rosettes to go with its Michelin Star rating: very few hotels have achieved such exalted status. The Devonshire picked up a second accolade when manager Jeremy Rata won the AA's coveted Wine List Award, so if you fancy the life of the bon viveur, head for Bolton Abbey and the Devonshire Arms!
FIVE SHORTLISTED FOR TOURISM AWARDS
No fewer than five of Yorkshire's Fine Hotels were shortlisted for the Yorkshire Tourist Board's White Rose Award for the best Hotel - under 35 bedrooms. This category is always keenly contested but this year the battle was particularly fierce, with pundits saying that any one of the seven finalists could easily win. YFH was represented by the Boar's Head, The Devonshire Arms, The Grange, Holdsworth House and Swinton Park and hopes were running high, but in the event they were all pipped at the post by the Feversham Arms at Helmsley, where proprietor Simon Rhattigan has done a tremendous job. Well done Simon, but we will all be looking for ways to improve our entries and beat you next year!
